I stumbled upon a Pirates pillbox cap on eBay:

The seller has it listed as a 1977-1982 Dave Parker cap, but isn't this the 1983-1984 style based upon the presence of the MLB tag?

It would have to be 1983. He was a Red in '84.

Thanks Dave. Could it also have been a Mitchell Page (1984 #39) cap? I disqualified that possibility, since he didn't play many games.

Possible, but not likely. I'd love to know the size. If I recall correctly, Page had a big noggin (7 1/2).

Size tag was apparently removed. On a separate note, were all pillbox caps stitched with just six lines on the bill, as opposed to the usual eight for New Era?

That I am not sure of off the top of my head.

Hi......I have seen a couple of Mitchell Page caps, one was 7 3/8 and the other was 7 1/2. As far as Dave Parker cap sizes, I have owned 5 over the past 30 years and they were 7 1/4 and 7 3/8.
We need more cap talk on here and questions and concerns related to cap collecting. I will try to get the ball rolling on this and welcome anyone to ask questions or make comments concerning game used caps.
Thanks,
-Walt
