here is the story behind this helmet:

i bought this some years ago from a woman on ebay who was selling all of her uncle's stuff. it was listed as a mid 80's batting helmet, the navy one. as i looked at it, i could see orange in the vent holes on top. i emailed her requesting pics of the inside. low and behold, to my surprise, it was orange! somewhere along its life, it was painted blue either by the astros or possibly one of there minor league teams at the time. she didn't know neither did i.
anyway, when i got it, i started to restore it back to orange and completed it and it looks great. there are still traces of the old navy paint in the tight areas of the helmet that aid its uniqueness. since i haven't had any luck finding and original star logo, i copied the one that was on it when it was blue and made it that size in navy with the white h. i know the logo is a bit big, but that was all i could do at the time. one of the vent holes has a crack around it but nothing is missing. the pics will show this. i tried countless times to contact the guy who is in this forum that collects astros to help me find a logo but got none.
i am selling it for $300 plus ship. take a look at the pics. anyone interested please drop me an email at oldz70@yahoo.com. thanks.

I think what he meant was that the helmet isn't worth anywhere near $300. I would have to agree with him.

why not? i've seen more common stuff sell for more. i guess since i have it it is not worth anything. if an auction house gets it, makes up a letter for it then it's worth something right? is that it? explain that?

Pretty defensive reply to 2 individuals who are correct. Let the market decide what it is worth and since you had no takers on GUF.com or Ebay I bet is is safe to assume the market has decided its worth.
