I'm starting a new collection - trying to get a game used flannel from each MLB team from the 1940's - 1971.

If you have an old flannel jersey laying around, and want to sell it, please shoot me an email: mlheller76@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Keep in mind, the expansion teams in the 1970s and later (Toronto, Seattle, Colorado, Florida/Miami, Arizona and Tampa Bay) did not have flannels made for them, so your closer to your "complete set" than you think.

Dave,

Most teams stopped wearing flannels after 1971. Here is how I got to 29 different flannels that I would need for a complete collection from the 1940 - 1971:

City Team
Baltimore Orioles
Bos/Mil/Atl Braves (No City Name Used on flannels)
Boston Red Sox
Brooklyn Dodgers
California Angels
Chicago Cubs
Chicago White Sox
Cincinnati Reds
Cleveland Indians
Detroit Tigers
Houston Colts
Houston Astros
Kansas City Royals
Los Angeles Dodgers
Milwaukee Brewers
Minnesota Twins
Montreal Expos
New York Mets
New York Giants
New York Yankees
Phil/KC Athletics (No City Name Used on flannels)
Philadelphia Phillies
Pittsburgh Pirates
San Diego Padres
San Francisco Giants
Seattle Pilots
St. Louis Browns
St. Louis Cardinals
Washington Senators

Teams like the Braves and Athletics didn't use the city name on their flannels, so there is virtually no difference between a Boston Braves flannel and a Milwaukee Braves flannel. So, I figured there is no point in having 1 from Boston and 1 from Milwaukee, etc... However the Dodgers used Brooklyn and then Los Angeles for their road flannels, so I figured I should have one of each.

Let me know if I've missed any.

Thanks again,

Mark

Pretty close. The Athletics did have a one-year style (1961 road) with Kansas City on the front (navy blue print on grey jersey) as well as a 1968 one-year style in white, yellow and mist green with a Chenille script OAKLAND across the front).
