    Alex Rodriguez C271 vs P72

Does anyone have some insight into why Arod would swing a P72 vs a C271. It seems very clear that C271(L) Smith's were the model of choice, but there are many credible P72's, so why did he swing the P72? Was it a slump bat? Was it a swing speed move? Does anyone know the ratio of C271's to P72's, and is one more desirable than the other?

I am looking to add a nice one to my wall so any help would be appreciated.

There are many arod experts on here that may have more information than me but having a small arod collection myself I can provide what I know. From what I've seen he swung a p72 quite a bit early in his yankee career and a few times in Texas. I can say the p72 was Jeters model of choice so perhaps he picked up a Jeter bat either in Seattle or Texas and decided to have lvs send him this model. In his early yankee days there is photo evidence of him swinging a jeter labeled p72 but he already had bats branded for himself by this time. As far as p72 vs c271 I'd say 10 to 1? But that's just a wild guess from what I've seen, when lvs was active on here you could have known the exact number. I'd have no issue buying either a p72 or c271 arod bat, of course with anything you just have to do a bit of research.

A Rod wanted to be like Griffey while with Seattle so he swung a C271. Everyone knows he was envious of Jeter and emulated his every move so he began using a P72 when they became teammates.
P72 is less balanced and more top heavy than a C271.

I know A-Rod had p72's prior to joining the yankees as a ranger and also seemed to use a lot of G174's as well.

For what it's worth, I have a M358 Rangers bat.
