I'm a huge Kelly Gruber fan and I was really excited to see this jersey pop up recently. It says it is a 1982 Chattanooga Lookouts #5 jersey, and Gruber wore #5 for the team in 1982. Sadly, this isn't a 1982 jersey, and that's the only year Gruber played for the team.
Gruber's 1982 TCMA card shows a different Lookouts home jersey (look at the neckline and arm stripes) with a different team logo on it (look at the loops in the "o" and the underline). The jersey has the 1984 Lookouts logo (I confirmed with their 1984 TCMA cards), so I believe it is a 1984 jersey. I don't see a #5 on the 1984 roster or in the 1984 set, but it's kinda hard to find a complete list of jersey numbers. There are matching pants included in the listing that have #20 and seem to say BART, and sure enough Greg Bartley wore #20 in 1984.
I discovered this with about 3 minutes left in the auction, otherwise I would have posted this earlier or contacted the seller.
Anyway, if someone on here bought the "Gruber" Lookouts jersey today I thought you might want to know that it isn't what it claimed to be. The seller seemed skeptical that it was a Gruber jersey, but claimed it was from 1982 which is wrong. That should be enough to initiate a return or file a "item not as described" claim.
