    1980's Wilson Tagging Question

I have noticed on some 1980's Wilson jerseys an additional "flag tag" on the size tag that does not appear on all jerseys.

For example, I have several mid 80's Twins jerseys. Most just have the Wilson size tag. But, I have one or two that have the Wilson size tag PLUS a shredded flag tag hanging below.

I have uploaded two photos with what I am talking about. Does anyone know what used to be on these flag tags? And why some jerseys have it but others do not (often from same team and same season)?

I've always been curious, and any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

I have a 1983 Mariners road jersey that has the word "tapered" printed on that small tag attached beneath to the Wilson tag. I believe this means the jersey gradually tapers off a bit

Ahh, makes sense. Thank you for clarifying.

Would the "tapered fit" have been player requested, or were most jerseys of that time tapered, and only a few tagged?

That is a tag indicating body tapering, which shreds/washes away rather easily.
Such tapering is at the players request I would figure, as it's not on anywhere near a majority of Wilson gamers of the era.

Also, Ryne Sandberg Wilson Cubs gamers often have the tapering tag exactly where your photo shows.
