4 days after Jack Buck's death, another Cardinals tragedy occurred when their ace pitcher Darryl Kile died of a coronary blockage, prior to a game against the Chicago Cubs. It was the first time an active major league player had died since 1979 and it shocked the baseball world. The Cardinals wore 2 memorial patches, one on each sleeve, during the remainder of the season in remembrance of Kile and Buck.
This game used jersey of Cardinals all time saves leader, Jason Isringhausen, has both patches and is autographed by the closer. The jersey shows lighter, but definite use and the patches are the legit ones issued by the team and not the retail variety often seen on fake Albert Pujols jerseys from this season. These 2 patch jerseys seem somewhat difficult to find jersey as Cardinals fans have generally held onto their memories of the 2002 season as one of both joy (advancing to the NLCS) and sorrow following the deaths of 2 beloved figures. Comes with a GF LOA if you care about such things.
