Someone please help on this one. It is auction #190084064593 (don't know how to post auctions) and I have no idea what to do. I really like this bat but it is being offered by the same person who is selling the Ripken, Clemens, and Boggs Jersey's seen in other threads. This person does seem off their rocker but it almost seems like an act. No one with stuff this nice is that incoherent. If anyone has an opinion about this bat please help out. It is a Canseco LS gamer but has MAC BP written on both ends and over 33 on the knob. I emailed the seller and they kind of sidestepped my questions. The seller said it was a rookie bat also. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Todd

R161 is documented in Canseco's H & B factory records throughout his rookie era as follows:

1982- 35 inch / 33 oz / Flame Treated / BB Miscell (6 bats)

1983 35'" / 33 and 34 oz / FT and not specified / Oakland A's (12) and Madison Muskies (12)

1984 35"/ 33 and 34 oz / FT and None and not specified / Modesto A's (18)

1985 35" / 33 oz / FT and None / Oakland A's (12)

Good Luck

Todd, Mike has been nice enough to provide specs on Joses Shipping Records. Mac also ordered R161 at some point. You may want to reconsider your Statement, "someone with stuff this nice, is that incoherent". They wont answer your questions??? Are you willing to spend 3,4 or 500 bucks???
I`ve looked at the Bat several times & have lost interest. The mid-label stamping, or burning, looks sketchy to me, (traced over???) I cant stand an "altered" Bat.
Maybe it`s awesome??? I just dont trust the person, do you? I wont spend more than 50 bucks, if i cant have a simple question answered, UNLESS I know the person.

Mike, how about natural finish C243 in that same era?
Thanks,
Robert

10thMan, that is foil stamped block letter, most 1985 early 1986 have them.

Rboitano, I`d considered that, Thanks...ie (stamped Foil)
I`d actually thought about asking a question or 2. However, after reading the Threads on the Jersey etc, I made up my mind. Like I said, it could be awesome. I just wouldn`t bother personally.

Mike, I really appreciate your help, it was very informative. I did go ahead and by the bat. It was more than I wanted to give, but not bad for a Rookie era bat with perhaps some interesting history. I know I will be ridiculed for buying it by some, and I may deserve that. But the bat looks very good to me and it has the records behind it. Once I get it I will give a followup on it. I would really appreciate any other opinions in the meantime.

Thanks, Todd Ricks

Robert-- Yes, Canseco did order C243 bats in 1985 35 inches / 33 and 35 oz with "None" listed under finish or with the finish unspecified in the records (likely Natural). The orders to the A's were in Sept 1985, and he also received a Winter League shipment in December 1985 (Licey)......C243 continued to be a frequently ordered bat well into the 1986-89 labeling period for Jose.

Sean-- Mac's first documented orders of R161 bats were between June, 1986 (Tacoma) 34.5" / 33 oz / None and 1988 (BB Promotions with specified length and weight 34.5" / 33 oz. In 1987 a batch of twenty-four 34.5" / no specified weight R161 bats were shipped to BB Miscellaneous, likely not intended for Mac's professional use.

Todd-- Thanks for the question and always happy to provide available information.

I talked to the seller and they are selling this stuff for their father-in-law. This may explain some of the odd stuff.
