Griffey game used battling gloves?

I know the LOA is legit and Griffey’s signature is legit

But I cannot discern game use other than possible pine tar on the left glove swing man logo as there is discoloration there.

Also by my research he wore these in 98, and LOA date precedes that

Is there a possibility that, somewhere along the way, the good LOA was separated from the actual items it pertained to and paired with items it wasn't issued for?

Yes, they do.. one of the reasons I eventually passed on them.

I am not sure, they were on Ebay. The seller offered them to me for $500.. But I couldn't get over the lack of apparent game use, and the LOA date. Everything I searched had him wearing these during the 1998 season.. So either this LOA was signed in bulk by Griffey ahead of him supplying them with Game Used batting gloves.. Or this LOA was paired with the wrong item. I have no doubt these were game issued Griffey gloves.. But not game used.
