Yeah this one has been discussed before if memory serves me correctly I believe something didn't match up about it.

If you do a search on the forum I am sure you will find the discussion about this Jersey

anyway, it's my opinion that the jersey should have a number and nob. if these are absent, there should be evidence that they once existed and were removed. this is how the jersey should look:

even without the getty date of may 93, you can immediately tell that bp jersey in photo is not a majestic half-zip and that it dates from 1992-1994. (the russell logo on the pants denotes that it's post-1991 and the style of the jersey indicates it's pre-1995).

a previous poster indicated that they had evidence of brett in a majestic half-zip devoid of a name and number. during the 90s, several teams simultaneously wore these majestic half-zip bp shirts along with russell or rawlings pullovers. the two styles are easily distinguishable by the differences in their sleeve trim; the majestic half-zips had 5 lines whereas the pullovers would usually have 2 or 3 and the colors were in a different order. it would not be surprising to learn that the majestic half-zips didn't have nobs or numbers. as shown, the pullovers are a different story.

it's surprising that there is no mention in the gfc letter that the jersey is lacking a nob and number. the jersey appears to simply be a stock bp shirt with a george brett autograph. the "1993" inscription may simply have been intended to denote the year of the autograph, not the jersey.

what's most surprising however is that gfc was not only able to somehow date this jersey specifically to being game worn in 1993 but moreover that it was worn by brett. there is nothing about the jersey whatsoever that enables one to attribute it being worn by brett. if gfc went solely by the autograph to determine it was a 1993 brett gamer, then that's one of the most ludicrous things i've ever seen. if i purchased a blank cardinals bp shirt and had pujols sign it with a "2006" inscription for the autograph would that then be solid evidence that the shirt was worn by pujols in 2006? maybe in the magical world of grey flannel.

        rudy.
