      when it comes to jerseys, most of the russell tags encompassed a few years. the exceptions were the tags used in 1992 and 2000 which, not including carryovers, were used for those single years only. the rest of tags encompassed 2-3 yr spans.

      i dont know how much of that also holds true for russell pant tags. if much it holds true for pants, then i don't believe you'll be able to pinpoint the tagging to a single, specific year.

      in terms of dating the tag, the only clue i can give you is that, when it came to jerseys, russell first began including the phrase "only non-chlorine bleach when needed" in their washing instructions on their 1996 tagging. this style of tag was used 1996-1999. tags prior to 1996 did not have that phrase. this likely doesn't help too much because those were also the years that tino martinez spent with the yankees. i don't believe you'll be able to pinpoint a single, specific year solely from the russell manufacturer's tag.
