    NFL Super Bowl Auction

NFL Auction to produce Super Bowl XXXIX live auction at NFL Experience
NEW YORK and SAN JOSE, Calif. (Feb. 1, 2005) -- The National Football League and PLAYERS INC are teaming with eBay to conduct the league's third "live" auction both on-site and online at the Super Bowl in Jacksonville on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 1 p.m. ET. Super Bowl XXXIX will be played on Feb. 6.
Fans may participate in the auction on-site at America Online Presents the NFL Experience, held at JEA Park. Using eBay's Live Auction technology, others will be able to place bids on the same items via the Internet at www.SuperBowl.com or www.ebay.com. Fans may make absentee bids on items now at either web site.
There will be 39 items in the auction, with all proceeds going to specific beneficiaries based on the product's source. The featured item is the opening kickoff ball from Super Bowl XXXVIII with proceeds going to Rebuilding Together, the nation's largest volunteer home rehabilitation initiative. Rebuilding Together and the NFL work side-by-side at every Super Bowl to rehabilitate homes of low-income homeowners in the game's host city.
Another featured item will be an original Super Bowl XXXVIII painting by Russell Irwin with proceeds donated to the tsunami relief efforts. Other auction items include the second half kickoff ball from Super Bowl XXXVIII; a Super Bowl XXXVIII endzone pylon; both official coin toss coins from the 2004 AFC and NFC Championship Games; a set of yard markers and pylons from the 2004 AFC Championship Game; game-used jerseys from Aaron Brooks, Jeff Garcia, Jamie Sharper, Jake Delhomme, Trent Dilfer, Byron Leftwich, Matt Hasselbeck, Chad Pennington, LaDainian Tomlinson, Fred Taylor and Randy Moss; signed collectibles include a Brett Favre helmet, a Ben Roethlisberger helmet, a 2004 30-plus signature rookies helmet, a 70-plus signature 2004 Pro Bowl ball, and a 70-plus signed Hall of Fame 40th Anniversary ball.
All items will be available for viewing in the card show tent near the autograph stage at the NFL Experience starting Thursday Feb. 3. Interested bidders can pre-register at the viewing booth.
NFL Auction has produced Live Auctions at the NFL Experience in New Orleans and San Diego. These auctions generated over $160,000 for charity with items ranging from old Super Bowl signage to a pre-sale of the SBXXXVI kickoff ball.
Bonnette Auction Company, in conjunction with Mike Jones Auctions, will provide complete auction assistance and will facilitate all activities on the day of the live auction under supervision of the NFL Auction staff. LiveAuctioneers.com will provide all backend support for the event.
