Trophy Help

Hello,
Today I found at my local flea market an interesting piece of memorabilia that I know very little about. I mainly collect older stuff but this piece caught my eye because it appears to be a trophy and the tarnished look makes it appear older than it is. Inscribed on it is: Allstate World Series (pictures of bats) Challenge and 82 (which I am assuming is 1982). It's pretty heavy and made of silver. Has anyone seen one or know any info on this piece? Anything would be greatly appreciated. I am assuming that Allstate is meant by the insurance company. Thanks again.

I've never seen another like it. Your conclusions regarding it's origin make sense to me. A silver expert may be able to verify the age for you.

I did some research and and found nothing, BUT I am coming to the assumption that this particular piece has something to do with the college world series because all state does have some connections with college athletics. Dunno though. It did clean up well. Not bad for 10 bucks!
