Rudy,

Hello...thanks for the follow up. Is it possible that Wilson could have used this tag on a post 1977 jersey? I know MEARS had a jersey tag database at one time, but I just checked and couldn't find it....

Beantown, you can on occasion, find this particular style Wilson tag on both baseball and football jerseys post 1977.

well hang on.. how "post 1977" are we talking? i wouldn't be shocked to see it on a 1978 or 1979 jersey. carryovers occur but they have their limits. are we talking an 80s or 90s jersey? i don't think anyone would accept it on a 1987 jersey for example. so what year is the jersey supposed to be from?

Lon,

A follow up...are we talking that these tags were carried over on blank jerseys from '74-77, or for example, Wilson receives a contract in 1980 to produce jerseys for a team/specific game and the jerseys are manufactured and the tags from '74-77 are applied?

Bradshaw made the pro bowl in 1975, 1978, 1979

In 1978 Bradshaw wore #11

Here are pics from 1979. What do you think of the sleeves in particular compared to yours?

The "C" in the word American seems to be farther to the right of the #2 compared to the photo above

Eric,

Nice pictures...I have never seen those before! Do you have those in a larger format? If the jersey can be photo matched, then it must be from the '79 season / '80 Pro Bowl, which was the first year in Hawaii. It's tough to compare to these game action photos, since they are so small, but I'm leaning towards your analysis since it appears the "C" in American is farther right than in the jersey photo I posted. The Wislon tag is from '74-'77 which bothers me. Does anyone have any Pro Bowl jerseys from the 1980 game for comparison? Here is anpther photo of Bradshaw....

I thought it might be a retail authentic, but it doesn't match up to the one in this thread.

Greg,

I'm not sure they made retail authentic for any Steelers from the late 1970's-Ealry 1980's....that Fouts in the above link is common as I have one as well. I believe that Fouts (AFC) and Theismann (NFC) were the only two jerseys produced as replicas in this era...

Just curious- what size is the fouts in your collection?

This one sold at AMI in Sept. '05...advertised as Theisman game-used Pro-Bowl...one of these Wilson store-boughts...notice the crudley added NOB, sans nameplate...I brought this to the forums attention on the original GUF...

Rudy,

Thanks for the post...I've actually been gathering quite a bit of information on the older Pro Bowl jerseys. This style here was predominant in the early-mid 1970's, however, at some point in the late 1970's, manufacturers changed along with the material, from durene (to sheen) to mesh. Does anyone have information to add as to when these jerseys changed?
