    Mickey Mantle bat without "Powerized"

Has anyone ever seen a Louisville Slugger logo K55 Mantle bat without the word "Powerized" imprinted? The bat has MM5 imprinted on the base and "125" in the oval. Was told it came from a sporting goods store in Pittsburgh that went out of business in the 1970's and the bat was kept in the back for years.

    Any incite much appreciated.

    Hi Bernie--

The stamping of the MM5 on the knob identifies this bat as one made for the retail trade rather than a professional model. The "MM" designation refers to Mickey Mantle, and the "5" is a reference to the length of the bat, in this case 35 inches. The origin of the bat, a sporting goods store, is consistent with the bat itself. If you are able to post a photo of the center label, we could probably narrow down the date of manufacture for you.

    Good Luck
