I was bidding in the Heritage auction today and noticed that they sold 2 Tony Gwynn silver slugger bat awards for big money:

It is interesting to note that Leland's sold two simliar Silver slugger bats, but not as originals but as duplicates ordered for a restaurant(Gwynn's?)

Could these be the same bats? If they are, I think heritage should have disclosed this. If not then they must be Gwynn's or another set of bats was ordered making a total of 3 sets. Does anyone know how many can be ordered by a player?

Well, I can't believe they're real, as I live in SD and have followed Gwynn since retirement, he's been and remains the SD State baseball coach. Guy lives in Poway and has never lived the high life, and isn't about money. Can't believe with his income he'd have sold off his silver bats, and if he did it would be recent and you can bet he'd have signed a LOA.

Doesn't add up.

Does anyone else have knowledge on how many of these bats can be ordered by the players? There was only one bid for big money on each. Maybe they were sold accidentally by Gwynn or a family memeber and purchased back by him?

Well the price difference between the 2 houses is BIG. If they are duplicates leaving out that in the decription adds about $14,000 a bat!!!!

I find it VERY hard to believe these are anything but copies or knockoffs without a LOA signed by T. Gwynn himself. The silver bats are most likely the most prized awards he received in his career, and the last things he'd let go of. But if he did, it'd be recent enough that any auction house or buyer would have requested an LOA and perhaps photos from him during the initial sale.
