Card companies have nothing on Broadway Rick

rick kohl has apparently gotten into the business of slicing up anything he can get his hands on for the purpose of selling you a 99 cent sliver of it.

    to wit:

the rest of his handiwork can be seen here:

it appears that he's not simply selling third-party cut-ups. he's actually making these things himself! all of the displays are identical.

after looking over his items, i'm surprised he doesn't have a piece of the shroud of turin or a chunk of noah's ark. maybe a sliver of unicorn horn even.

He's doing a little better than Upper Deck. At least his COA shows a pic of what's supposed to be the pre-cut item.

It seems like a great idea. I think I'm going to take a utility knife to my Dr. J, Converse game shoes. Or maybe I'll just take a photo of the game shoes and hack up my lawn cutting kicks.

My prediction for the next big thing in "pieces" will be the ultimate cut auto. A signed index card will be cut up into little squares much like Rick is doing. Can't afford a complete JFK auto? Bid on this piece which looks like it might be part of a K...maybe...perhaps.

Correct. However there are probably lots of other morons out there who will buy these framed cut ups.

By the way Steiner offers the cuts of game used bats in display frames. When I was able to tour the Steiner facilities I noticed a game used bat that had the end sawed off. When I asked Bob Malandro about it he said it was for the game used display pieces.

At least these are modern day not ultra rare items. I cannot see taking a rare Mathews jersey and taking a scissor to it. No matter how you slice it (pun intended) it's just wrong in my opinion.

Although Steiner offers "similar" framed items, they also have an exclusive arrangement with the Mets and Yankees in order to obtain the jerseys and bats. With this said, and based on the various questionable items, what type of assurance or authenticity can be provided with Broadways Rick's framed gems? We've seen countless questionable jerseys being sold by him, and as such, are these the same shirts that are now inside these frames? For all we know, the so-called Eddie Mathews jersey could actually be an Eddie Munster!

              Any insight here?

Are you taking offers on the Big Foot hair? Does anyone have any moon rocks to sell?

                  dan,

if you've got the deep pockets required for warren's bigfoot hair, may i suggest complementing that purchase with some genuine leprechaun hat?

That is a nice piece. Does it come with a Lampson LOA?

He was doing one of those buying trips that dealers do sometimes last week.I went to the Holiday Inn he was buying at and brought him a few items to see if he had interest in them.He told me if something is worth 375.00 he would only be able to offer no more than 225.00.We did not talk price on any items because I saw where this thing was going so I was out of the conferance room in no more than 5 minutes.Thought that I would pass this along.Geoff
