    Help with restoring a jersey

I just came back from the White Sox garage sale and found something amazing. I bought a retro 1906 game used uniform of Agustin Montero #65 and noticed there was a number change. When I got home I inspected it more and sure enough I was switched from 56 Mark Buehrle to #65. Now I was hoping there was a profesional that can help me switch it back. The numbers left like a blue stain when the numbers where switched and it left the outline of the stiching. Any help would be appreciated. I would love to post pictures but still dont know how to.

Re: Help with restoring a jersey

I'd advise against having it restored. The main reason is that, as we've seen in auction house stuff before, there's been quite a few items that have visible name changes that end up as a star player. Legitimate or not, the huge red flag is there that it may have been turned from a common jersey into a star player by switching numbers and/or names.

If you have a #65 jersey that has the visible signs of having been #56 previously, leave it as it. Frankly, it's a lot more believable to a prospective buyer to see a 65 with the outline of 56 underneath than to see a 56 with a 65 underneath.

^Thanks for the info. I would love to add pictures of the jersey. I have never seen something like this. A star players jersey turned into a common player. Does anyone else have a story like this?

Can you tell us a little about the Garage Sale and the prices? I've been looking for a commone player 1906 TBTC jersey and I'm guessing they had a few at the sale.

The garage sale was so so. The items were very over priced. But I did pick up 5 complete 1906 uniforms. Dustin Hermanson, Tim Redding, Mark Buehrle? Don Cooper and Pedro Lopez. They had a cracked Jim Thome bats for $750 . Not many people bought bats because they were very over priced.
