    Big Papi game used bats

Do any bat collectors think that there would be a premium value to a bat that David Ortiz used during the regular 2004 season, the year the Red Sox won the series?

I would say yes! Any Ortiz items from 2004 or other Red Sox players would carry a premium price.

Also, one thing to look for in Ortiz 2004 bats is the short taped handle, usually black tape.

I bought a 2004 Rawlings game used Ortiz bat from Grey Flannel, with letters from Grey Flannel and PSA. The handle is not taped. I am glad that Rawlings puts a date code on the bat knob so that I know it is from 2004. I have been a Red Sox fan since 1967 and I had to have one game used piece from 2004.

I would love to post some photos of my Ortiz 2004 bat, but my computer and photography skills are not advanced enough to do so.

Question for the David Ortiz bat collectors.

I have a LS from his Twins days. Number "30" is written on the knob. I always assumed it was used by someone else. However the writing style identically matches the "34" written on the knobs in the above picture. (The rounded "3".) Does anyone know if Ortiz ever wore number 30 in the minors? If I remember right the bat is from 2000 to 2002.

                Thanks for your help,

                Bryan

Not sure about the years in the minors but I can tell you that Gregg Olsen, Mike Morgan and Brian Buchannan all wore #30 during Ortiz's time in Minnesota.

Great Ortiz bats. I've never seen a LS B9 model. What does the B stand for? Any other player's use B9 bats like that.

                      Indyred,

Thanks! The LVS B9 model is a hardwood called Beechwood. The LVS M9 would stand for maple. I've seen Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez use B9 bats.
