Hi Forum Members,

I haven't been to Boston/Fenway for some time, but this upcoming weekend I'm driving to Boston with my two sons ( 12 and 14 y.o. ) for the Jays series on Saturday and Sunday.

I was hoping some forum members could help me out with suggestions for accommodations near or around Boston.... as well as any other suggestions!

Thanks so much for your help on this!

Mike

I'm at Fenway quite a bit, are you looking for hotels, places to eat, etc...?

Hey Kellsox,

Any info will be helpful. I'm hoping to stay at the DoubleTree Suites in Boston. Any other hotels are open for suggestion. By boys are stoked (as am I) at this opportunity. Friends had tickets and had planned to go to this series but something unexpected came up.

Places to eat, what time to go watch BP...Are you a season's ticket holder?

I have a 1/2 season plan(around 35 games). Park opens up 2 hrs before game time. If you enter then you'll be able to see the end of the Sox and the entire visiting teams BP. They don't always have BP(weather or day game after night game)I would call that day or ask an attendant before you enter the park. Each home game a former player signs autographs(for free) in Autograph Alley. Not sure what time it starts but I know that they cut off the line about 1/2 hour-40 min before game time. I've gotten autos from Pesky, Malzone, Gedman, Tiant, Bill Lee, Longborg in the past. Other times they have someone who only played a season with the team-it's hit or miss but worth checking out. The tour of Fenway Park is pretty cool also- check the Sox website for times and availibility.
I usually eat/hang out away from the park but there are some large restaraunts across the street that your boys would probably enjoy. Jillians has games/pool/bowling and usually draws a big baseball crowd. There's also Game On which is attatched to Fenway. If you choose to go anywhere near the park I would get there a few hours before the game as tables fill up quickly.
Hope this helps
Kelly

Thanks for your help Kelly,

We're going to try and get everything in our 2 1/2 to 3 days there.

I'm assuming the Red Sox don't sell game used jerseys, bats, etc. like most MLB teams at the Park.

Hey DC,

That's what I'm doing...A road trip with my boys! I couldn't wait until they hit the right age to go and now is the time. I'm thinking of cabbing it from the hotel though.

Does the place by Fenway have game worn stuff?

I never noticed anything when I was there. But at that time I wasn't into the gamers. You will have a blast it was one of the greatest trips of my life.If I wasn't a Mets fan I would be a Red Sox fan..Here are some pics of me and my wife...

The Souvinier store across the street used to sell cracked bats and GU balls lineup cards, etc... The bats were pretty overpriced. The Sox just signed with Steiner so i don't know if they are still selling anything at the store. I never saw any jerseys for sale.

Last time i checked the team store for game used they had a Manny Ramirez bat that was completely broken for 1200$.Don't expect any deals...

You asked for it, you got it. I took some pics of the game used items for sale at the team store last may. Fun to look at, but there are no bargains. Pretend it's an exhibit at a museum!

Thanks Eric,

Is that the Yawkey Way Store ( Souvenir Store ) by Fenway? What do the Red Sox do with their no-name player jerseys...you know, the ones that are more affordable?!?

That's the one at Fenway. The same place where the tours of Fenway leave. It's a pretty impressive store. I'm a Yankee fan, but I was in Boston around opening day and went out of my way to walk in the Fenway area and in the store and I really enjoyed it.
