I just have to say, stay away from him, bad news!!!!! He knows nothing about hockey! The stories that involve him are bad, very bad!!!

rich is advising people stay away from an authenticator that one of his employers has hired? i love it. AMI must love it too. they hire 2 authenticators and one of them tells collectors to stay away from the other.

I read that entire post and got a great laugh. Highly respected or not, that Milt character is itching for a fight the entire thread. Not to mention he is way over sensative and takes every general comment personally lol Funny stuff.

That "Milt" guy happens to be one of the most knowledgeable collectors/dealers in hockey. He's Milt Byron, and from my experiences and what I'm told by other hockey collectors, he's most likely forgotten more information than Lampson will ever know!

Like I said, I couldn't care who he is. He clearly can't take a compliment and sure as heck is on the defensive when certain comments weren't even directed towards him. A broad statement was made something to the efrect to the worst crooks are the ones you don't see coming or something like that. And he went on a war path calling it a personally attack and childishly threatened to "spank" the member that said it (probably meant in court lol) and said he was lucky he was dealing with the nicer Milt. lol

He's may be knowledgable concerning hockey jerseys, I'll give him that. But I stand by my opinion that his entire reaction to that thread, which had nothing to do with him, shows him to be a clown.

Rich and Milt are both highly respected in the hockey world and their opinions carry FAR more weight than anything Lou Lampson could authenticate in any sport; btw, this thread is over 4 years old

Gotta love the guy with 10 posts and joined their Forum in the same month as this post speaks much praise for Lou. Interesting coincidence.

posted March 15, 2003 10:36 PM I can say I know Louis Lampson and can honestly say the man is a great guy and has a vast knowledge of sports stuff. I will also say though that his knowledge is in the football and basketball arenas. He has an amazing football and basketball collection. Anyone who has seen it will tell you its amazing. I must say though in my opinion the person who sent those emails has no affiliation with Lou. Anyone who does know Lou will tell you thats not his style. He doesn't do authentications for a living, only as a hobby. When it comes to stories I have heard something bad about every authenticator in the business whether thats football-baseball-basketball or football. Certifying equipment isn't an exact science, its an educated guess. I can say I have never done business with Milt before. He seems to be very respected and has a good reputation. However, if you believe that he has never made a mistake regarding a shirt I have some swamp land in Iraq for sale. Because people make mistakes I think its always best to have multiple people certify equipment. If you get letters from multiple sources then your odds of legitmacy increase. My advice is don't trust anyone regarding authentications. Always be looking for the next expert to look at it. Just keep in mind the best crooks are the ones nobody suspects.
