Help!
A few weeks ago, I won a Lawrence Taylor auction at American Memorabilia with a letter from Lou Lampson. I am new at collecting game used helmet so I don't know too much about Lou Lampson authenticity. Anyway, the letter says that it is a late 80's helmet because of the cliff and the number #56 in the back of the helmet. The Recon sticker has been remove from the helmet so I don't know the exact year. However, when I remove the padding on the helmet, there is a warranty sticker hidden underneath which say 03-95. Does anyone know what this 03-95 means? is that means the helmet was produce in 95 or is it the expiration date of the warranty? Does anyone know how many year is the warranty good for? Further more, the three letter code on the face mask is BID, which I assume February of 1994 was when the face mask produce. Something is just not right about this helmet. Please help if you have any information. I appreciate all your advice.
Sincerely,
Long

LONG, IT ALWAYS AMAZES ME WHY IT`S ALWAYS THE "STAR PLAYER" ITEMS THAT ALWAYS POP UP. THIS HELMET DOESN`T SOUND RIGHT TO ME. IF YOU COLLECT GIANTS GAME USED ITEMS OR ARE BIDDING ON ANY, ESPECIALLY STAR ITEMS, DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST. ASK QUESTIONS. BARRY MEISEL FROM THE MEIGRAY GROUP WAS HANDELING GIANTS GAMEWORN EQUIPTMENT AND HE MAY BE ABLE TO HELP YOU IN THE FUTURE. I`VE BEEN A GIANTS FAN FOR OVER 40 YEARS AND I HAVE SEEN ALOT OF GARBAGE OUT THERE. A LETTER FROM LOU LAMPSON TO ME MEANS NOTHING. WHERE DID THE HELMET COME FROM? UNLESS THIS HELMET CAME WITH A LETTER FROM THE GIANTS OR EQUIPTMENT MANAGER, OR EVEN LT HIMSELF, I WOULD HAVE NEVER BID ON IT. I KNOW IT`S TOO LATE FOR YOU AT THIS TIME, BUT, IN THE FUTURE, SAVE YOURSELF SOME TROUBLE AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON THE ITEM. HOPE THIS HELPS. GEORGE

thanks george,
like I said, I am new at collecting. From now on, I will do alot more research before bidding on a superstar game used item.

sounds as though you got a helmet that was manufactured long after LT hung it up.
I would approach AMI with this data and ask for a refund. Perhaps Lampson can explain to you how he missed this very basic information when he authenticated the helmet.

Lou Lampson- LOL

I wouldn't buy anything w/ a Lou Lampson LOA. He'll apparently authenticate anything that is placed in front of him. This guy is a disgrace. It really shouldn't be difficult to figure out if the helmet is legit especially w/ all the information about the helmet right in front of his eyes. It seems even a novice can find things questionable about this helmet, so why can't a so-called "expert in the field" such as Lampson.
