Hey Red Sox fans, since the Sox are on the West Coast, check out eBay auction 130141304639. There may or may not be a problem with the jersey. I'd like to read your comments.
I have a home 2001 Manny jersey so allow me to comment:
1. Piping on the sleeves? Sox jerseys did not have piping on the sleeves in 2001
2. Size 48 on Manny seems highly unlikely too. One I have is size 52. Regardless, the Sox 01 home jerseys never had piping on the sleeves.
Just goes to show you that players will inscribe anything regardless of authenticity.
Gamer35: I had a 2001 Red Sox common player jersey and my jersey, like your jersey did not have the sleeve piping. That's part of what I was looking for but not the main answer.
it's the wrong 100th Anniversary patch. there were 2 different styles of 100th Anniversary patches worn. 1 for "charter members" and 1 for non-members. the charter members included the red sox, white sox, indians, tigers. the ebay jersey has the patch for non-members. you can easily tell because the version for charter members has the bar/banner under the baseball.
Don't forget, Manny signed it. Is the jersey authentic? Who knows. It may or may not be our place to say but for the asking price of $2400.00, it certainly would raise some doubts.

PS: Rudy, if I had the power, I'd get you one of the most prized gifts any forum member could ask for, - a one on one interview with Lou Lampson.
Just a side question...when HAVE the Sox had piping on their home sleeves? There are 06 Papi jerseys and 05 Manny jerseys on eBay that don't. Sportsworld's 04 Manny doesn't. The photos from 01 and 02 that I've been looking at don't show anything. The Nomar photos I've looked at too, although not many, don't show any either. Thanks for the help.

Always looking for Jack Hannahan or St. Paul Saints gamers:
I've personally have never owned a Red Sox home game worn knit jersey with sleeve piping and I am pretty sure the piping does not appear on any of their home knit jerseys. Now their road and alternate knit jerseys and 1960's home flannel jerseys are a different story.
If you would like more information about acquiring any game used Red Sox items from 2007 please contact me directly at bfriedman@steinersports.com or 914-307-1087. We have just received jerseys from the first half of the season!
