    Barry Bonds Game-Used Bat

I want to make sure that this bat is authentic. It is a 33 ¾ inch LS H238 model bat from the year 1992. It has Bonds number (24) on the knob. On the bat it reads Genuine H238. Below it Barry Bonds. Below that Pittsburgh Pirates. Is this authentic?

It Sounds Correct For A 91-92, Pics Would Help. I Have One.

      Hi-

During the H & B 1991-1994 labeling period, and specifically from 1/2/91 to 9/8/92 when Barry Bonds was with the Pirates, there were 239 professional model bats shipped to him from H & B for his use. All were Model H238 with cupped ends (H238C in the records) , and every one was 34 inches in length and weighed 32 ounces. A very few bats, approximately 15, with those dimensions, were sent to "Baseball Miscellaneous" or "Baseball Promotions" during his Pirate days within that labeling period.

Note that during earlier labeling periods, specifically in 1988, 1989, and 1990, Bonds ordered Model H238 bats without cupped ends.As an interesting aside, the earliest Barry Bonds professional model bats, ordered between 7/10/86 and 2/17/87 were Model P72, in lengths of either 33.5 inches, 34 inches, or 34.5 inches, weighing between 31 and 32.5 ounces, with a Walker finish (black barrel with a white handle.)

      Good Luck in future collecting.

      Mike
