Hey fellas,

I picked this up recently and was wondering what the stories are of pro bowl authentics from the early 80s and earlier. were the only ones game issued or were they made at retail also? Thanks.

Here's another pic of Pro Bowl jerseys from the era...these are tough to find:

This is a retail authentic. Wilson made Theisman (NATIONAL) and Fouts (AMERICAN). These are not team or player issued. I have seen many of these on eBay, some with crudely added NOBs (they were sold with no NOB). If held in your hand, a novice could tell the difference between a gamer and one of these replicas (material weight, extra-length, etc.). I remember a National with a amatuerish added "THEISMAN" NOB sold at AMI. It came with a Lampson LOA. It was discussed on this forum. A search would help!

Thanks, man. I shoulda searched a bit more but keyed my search on the Wilson Tagging Primer...that's what I get for posting tired. Oh well, hopefully my young cousin will like the new jersey, then (he's the heir apparent to my collection a decade or so down the road). If not, I guess I'll get it nameplated and framed or something. I'm not sure. Like I said, thanks again! :)
