The unplanned game came about due to the postponement of scheduled game for both Chicago and Detroit. The Bulls were to play a road game in Charlotte tomorrow night, but contract tracing related to COVID19 on the Hornets postponed that matchup. The Pistons game in Dallas was also postponed, but not due to pandemic-related reason, but for extreme weather condition in Dallas.

After action taken by the state governor, Louisiana has returned to allowing 100% capacity for all outdoor sporting events, and will not require fans to wear masks at outdoor events. The focus on this new/old status is LSU's 2021 NCAA football season.

Both Chicago MLB teams are planning massive capacity increases later this month.

The White Sox and Cubs will increase crowd limits to 60% of capacity. This begins on May 24 for the White Sox and May 28 for the Cubs.
Both teams will also have sections set aside for fans who have been fully vaccinated; sections 108 and 109 at Comiskey Park and the upper level of bleachers beneath the center field scoreboard at Wrigley Field. Seating in these areas does not count against the overall 60% capacity limit.
