Laughable Grey Flannel Message about Worthy Jersey
Grey Flannel Newsletter Auction Update
8/16/2007Lot 120: James Worthy UNC Jersey You will notice that we have removed lot 120, the early 1980s James Worthy University of North Carolina Game-Used Road Jersey, from our September 8th Basketball Hall of Fame Auction. This was upon our consignor's request He did not want it to be associated with the infamous Michael Jordan shooting shirt. This jersey has passed every litmus test known to us with flying colors, both from the time it was consigned to us until now. This item WILL be in our December 5th Holiday Auction, giving anyone interested in bidding on it more than ample time to come and inspect it fully. Our consignors and actual bidder's needs are paramount to us. We continue as "The Standard of the Industry", as we have for the past two decades.

Wanna bet a coke that jersey doesn't come close to the December auction?

"He did not want it to be associated with the infamous Michael Jordan shooting shirt."
why did they assume it might be associated?
nobody mentioned a connection and all of a sudden GFC comes out saying "there's no connection!!". funny but now that they mention it, i'm curious what the connection is.

Re: Laughable Grey Flannel Message about Worthy Jersey
What caught me as odd was seeing one auction house take a public swipe at another auction house.
Always looking for game used San Diego Chargers items...

Re: Laughable Grey Flannel Message about Worthy Jersey
GFC quote:
"This (Worthy) jersey has passed every litmus test known to us with flying colors, both from the time it was consigned to us until now. "
What litmus test would that be?
Medalist Sand Knit introduced the "printed" logo/size tag in late 1983. Worthy last played for Carolina in March 1982.
There is no known photograph of ANY Carolina player (in the Worthy era) wearing the "5" that matches the font of the GFC Worthy.
Why would this "so-called" Worthy jersey be mentioned in the same breath as the "infamous" Jordan?

"This item WILL be in our December 5th Holiday Auction"
apparently not! the auction is now live and there's no worthy UNC shirt, contrary to the fact that GFC assured people it would be in there as it had "passed every litmus test with flying colors". i wonder why it's not in there.

It's probably not in there because of your great detective work, Rudy. I'd love to know what a GFC litmus test consists of.

Re: Laughable Grey Flannel Message about Worthy Jersey
Grey Flannel spared themselves a Daily News write-up. Nice job, I guess. I think the "UnWorthy" would sell for a grip to an unsuspecting eBayer. You know, you risk punishment from eBay if you email potential bidders or interfere with someone's auction. It's just not worthy it...
