Looking for some weird help
I am going to start building a custom case to hold my 2005 White Sox bat collection.
For those of you with bat racks that allow you to hang the bat from the knob verticle can you please give me some dimensions?
I have inserted a picture fo help.
Dimensions of holes?
Dimensions between holes?
Dimensions center to center of holes?
Dimensions from back to hole?

Re: Looking for some weird help
ChicagoGlen,
I can appreciate your need for dimensions having an engineering background. Here are some pics of my room with a similar design that I designed and my father built (he is starting to do this as a retirement life). I can get you exact dimensions from my original template later.

Re: Looking for some weird help
Here are the specs I use for a single-row bat rack (using a 1x4 board):
Holes: 1 1/2" in diameter
Distance between holes, center to center: 3 1/2"
Center of hole from front of board: 1 1/2"
Width of opening in front: 1 1/8"
I measure the hole center from the front of the board because the back can vary, depending on how you join the boards. Personally, I run a dado in the mounting board 3/8" deep and insert the "rack" board into the dado for extra strength (vs. just screwing or gluing it flush).
Also, I soften all the edges with a 1/4" radius roundover router bit and sand all the openings with a drum sander. That makes the holes a bit larger.
Here's an example:
