September pickups Part II
Earlier in September I added two Larry Bird items to my collection. A pair of rookie era game used autographed shoes with Celtics/Chris Ford coa. And, a game used Larry Bird 1987 Warmup jacket. Always looking for quality game used Larry Bird items.

Re: September pickups Part II
Last night at the Astros game versus the Braves, the team wore Biggio's first era of jerseys. After the game, they gave away the players jerseys to lucky fans in seats all over the stadium. My goal was a player that played the whole game and got dirty. I also told myself the whole game that I would love a player like catcher JR Towles that couldn't help but get dirty behind the plater. The 1980s to 1993 style made by Majestic is the best TBTC style I have seen so far. The lettering and numbering is perfect for a late 1980s and 1990s jersey. All jerseys were signed and MLB authenticated. Here is what I got! The thing is loaded with use. Still wet this morning. There is dirt stains from each side where his chest protector rub.
As an FYI, JR set the Astros record for RBIs in a game last week with 8. I also know his dad very well as they are from just up the road from me in Crosby, TX. This guy is the Astros future catcher. Brad Ausmus call him one of the youngest and most intelligent catchers he has seen in years, and he is only 23 years old.
Enjoy,

Re: September pickups Part II
great stuff guys!
Eric - Im very jealous of that Bernie rookie jersey. It is sweet!
Chris - nice pick up on the Astros jersey! Did you just happen to be one of the fans that they picked or did you purchase it from a fan at the game?

Re: September pickups Part II
Jim,
I was not that lucky! I did purchase the jersey from the lucky winner. I went after a few of these and came away with two. Here are some of my other September pick-ups:
2002-03 Craig Biggio Astros Bat, Uncracked
2007 JR Towles Astros Bat, Cracked (Gift from Him)
Thanks,

Very nice!
The Nats just did a jersey off your back thing too. I approached about 4-5 winners and gave them my name and number but no bites yet.
