    Game Used VS Replica Bats

I have seen many replica bats being passed off as game issued and game used and am wondering if the replica's like the ones sold on mlb.com and cbssportsstore.com are exact replica's in terms of size and weight as the players game models? And are these websites (and others like them) the sources of the fakes?

Re: Game Used VS Replica Bats

I have a Jim Edmonds replica bat that is signed (actually on eBay if you want to see the example) and it has no model number. The game issued bat (of Edmonds) I have has a model number, the paint is smoother, and weighs differently. Some of the replica bats I am seeing now have a line under the 125 (LS) AND the model number...I am confused about this too...

The line under the 125 means it's a replica. We are now putting the model numbers on the bats. All the Ash bats will have the 125 underlined if it's a replica bat. The ones to watch for are the Maple bats, all they have is the "7" stamped in the handle.

Most times replicas are made of heavier wood. At least 2 or more ounces heavier than the game weights used by the player.

...LS has a great way of appealing to collectors. Adding the model number to replicas was a really cool addition. Now, just to fix the unscrupulous sellers that are claiming these are game issues...
