How long does it take for a bat...

to get into the player's hands after the production date?

I'm specifically talking about a Marucci that has a production date of 9/20/07. Any ideas when it might get delivered to a player and be in use? 3 days, a week?

    Jim,
While I may not be able to speak for a major league team, I can speak for a minor league one. I know for our guys, when they order bats it takes about 2-4 weeks for the order to be complete and in the players hands. Louisville seems to be the slowest, because of obvious reasons. Alot of the smaller bat companies, or less used seem to take less time to be delivered. I am sure that it is a quicker process for the major league teams though.

Thanks.....I'm hoping that it is a little quicker for an MLB team. I'm trying to backtrack through MLB video now to photomatch a bat and its a slow process.

My Yadi Molina bat is stamped 8-31-07 and I found it broke on 9-7-07 on MLB.tv. Luckily I knew what series it came from. I would say it takes about a week to 10 days for them to get them

If it was from the 9-20-07 batch you have about 10 games it could have been used in. Zim does keep some of his bats in the locker for a while as one of the 6-19-07 batch was used the 1st week of August and one of the bats from the same 9-20-07 batch had the hologram show up with the info below. Also consider that you were able to photomatch the 3rd bat from the left to the last game of the season on Sept 30th.

Hologram number BB674933 was located in the MLB Authentication Database under Bats.

Product Description: Ryan Zimmerman Broken Bat
    Session Product Description: Game-used Bat

Session Name: Washington Nationals @ Philadelphia Phillies

    Session Date: 2007-09-28 00:00
