    Nate Archibald jersey on Mears..

An early 80's Celtics Archibald jersey is selling for 10,500 on Mears site! That jersey sold on ebay last month for less than 800.00. I didn't bid on it because it just didn't look right with photo searches. Anyway, it has restored lettering and numbering and I can still can't photo match it but the dude wants 10k for it? Whatever.

$9700 profit. not bad. but i've got it beat.

1977 reggie jackson game used jersey. purchased at AMI for $20,365.

currently for sale at mears for $50,000

who knew a mears cert on a 1977 jersey was worth almost $30k. some people would call it the 'american dream' but the american dream is more about the potential for anything if you work for it, rather than making money for doing nothing.

anyway, maybe the topper would be the dimaggio "56 hit season" bat that bushing bought from patricia henrich for $30k and later sold for $345k at a mastro auction. bushing once railed against people who make off-site offers to unknowledgable ebay sellers and offer them less than 50% of the item's value. he called it "unethical" and the sheer injustice of it really seemed to bother him. perhaps it is unethical but i'd be really curious to know if, after the henrich bat sold, did bushing go back to patricia henrich and give her another $142,000?

"Bushing received $300,000 from the April auction and he says he'll share the profits with Henrich's family, although he declined to say how much. Patricia Henrich says she's "satisfied" with her arrangement with Bushing."

again, henrich may have been satisfied but i'm really curious to know if bushing's walk followed his talk and the amount was at least 50%. after all, if he feels it's "unethical" to offer less than surely it must've been 50% right?

turning $30k into $345k by issuing your own cert really takes the cake.

Perfect example of why I've been trying to stock up on some favorite jerseys when I get the chance. Someday it will be next to impossible to obtain the good ones.

    Hello C.J.,

I guess I'm a little confused by the intent of your post. I believe Dave Bushing bought the Jim Brown jersey from someone set up at the National Convention. I also believe the person selling it at the National knew what it was and sold it at a price he was looking to get. I also think it is quite clear Dave bought the jersey with the intent to resell it for a profit. Is your post suggesting that is something that shouldn't be expected?

Thanks in advance for your clarification. I just wasn't sure of the meaning of your post.

    Sincerely,
    Chris
