    Pete,

As I mentioned, MEARS has authenticated the jersey with an A8 grade and makes no mention of the font being incorrect, so I would suggest you ask them what the basis for their authentication was.

    Thanks,
    Dave

I'm getting more confused....again, is there one pic anywhere of LT or any Giant with a #5 font that matches[/quote]

Unable to locate a match to that year but did find 1992 and 1993 examples. Still looking..........

        B. Heagy...as I stated before...the only time the #5 font matches the AMI jersy is when the team switched to Apex in the 90's...the pics that you put up were from that time frame...

To Rob S., Chris C., and Eric S.,

I refuse to enter into the debate on this jersey without performing extensive research, but I will enter into the debate about following Forum Rules. I continue to see posts (not just this one) where Forum Rules are flagrantly violated. The main violation is posters making claims and innuendo without first contacting the Seller, and sometimes without offering solid evidence supporting their claim.

It's great that this Forum allows information to be shared. However, order must prevail. You have set rules, but they are good only if enforced. From my daily conversations with various hobbyists - some who have a lot to offer to this Forum but are reluctant to participate due to the occasional chaos - it is imperative that the rules you outlined are followed if we ever expect this Forum to reach its full potential.

I hope you take this in the constructive manner for which it is intended.

            Guys,

I often receive emails from people who don't understand the manner in which we moderate the forum. The fact is, I've spent more time than I care to count moderating this thread over the past few days. In fact, I've edited or deleted TWELVE posts in this thread alone, and several more in other threads about items in American Memorabilia's auction.

Eric, Chris and I could make full-time jobs out of moderating this forum, but we are hopeful that forum members will choose to be more respectful of our rules moving forward. None of us like editing posts, but sometimes we are left with no alternative. As a reminder, please review the following thread about appropriately questioning items:

            http://www.gameuseduniverse.com/vb_f...ad.php?t=11736

This thread has the potential to educate a lot of people if we'll all continue to stay focused on researching the Lawrence Taylor jersey and not editorial comments, personal insults, and vendettas. Thanks for your cooperation.

            Best,

            Rob
