Looks like the Blue Jays went old school.

Other than the "Rays" which is a complete identity change (apparently, they're now the rec league team of a chain restaurant), all the uniforms shown are alternates. Kind of like the way the Jays are using a striped belt to simulate the old sansabelt pants...

Thumbs up Re: 2008 new uniforms

Those Royals alts would look so much better if they were going to wear them with light blue pants. It looks wierd with the white pants.

    re: the jays "08" unis

it's not so much the style throwback that's odd. it's the team logo. that logo was last used in 1996. it was the original logo they'd used since inception in 1977. since 1996 it's been redesigned a few times. i find it bizarre that, rather than redesign it again, they would go back to using a 12+ yr old logo.

Royals baby blue coming back is the biggest uni news in years! We've been begging for those forever. Now if we only had Brett, Saberhagen, Bo, Quiz, McRae, Wilson, and White to put 'em on!

It's actually not that surprising at all. The old Jays logo in the past few years has been making more & more appearances in the dome, as well as in merchandise, from hats to clothing, which is obvious to see once you walk into one of the Jays shops. As well, you see the original logo gear being worn more & more these days in the Toronto area. If the old logo re-introduced merchandise wasn't selling, they simply wouldn't be stocking it, and it would be long forgotten. They however do not use the logo from the Rogers Clemons era, or the T bird logo anymore, and there is almost no mention of them anywhere. The old original logo will always be associated with the Jays and is still really well liked in the Toronto area.

I thought that if they went with a retro uniform, it would be one from the early 90's.. The light blue makes does make sence, most MLB team's alternate jerseys are not white or grey in color. I would imagine it to be very well received by the fans in Toronto..

    Regarding the Jays '08 Alts:

I remember reading last month on uniwatch that they will be wearing the babyblue throwbacks on Friday home games as part of the FlashBack Fridays promotion that has run over the past couple seasons.

I think Milwaukee did a similar thing this past season.

The person who mentioned this sourced a club employee for the info.

Either way, it'll be great to see.
