Unhappy UDA Autograph Cards - Questionable?

This is worth the read if you collect "cut" autographs on cards, or just to be better informed.

It mentions more of the UDA cards with "alleged" forgeries. These are in addition to the $85,000.00 quad cut that was recently sold on eBay.

Read the interview with Kevin Keating in the first link before going to the second link, which shows scans of "authentic" and "questionable" UDA "cut" autograph cards.

Re: UDA Autograph Cards - Questionable?

Sammy, UDA stands for Upper Deck Authenticated, which is a division of The Upper Deck Company. From my understanding, the card in question comes from an Upper Deck Company trading card.

UDA - Upper Deck Authenticated sells autographed memorabilia that is witnessed in person from staff members of Upper Deck Authenticated.

I only make this point because when someone starts questioning an UDA autographed Michael Jordan jersey because of a trading card that came from The Upper Deck Company's Trading Card Division, then your terminology is incorrect and could lead to errors.

In fact, I cannot recall an item from UDA to date that has been questioned as not legitimate. Yes, there has been people who have taken a hologram from a genuine UDA item and placed it on a fake item, but the UDA division of The Upper Deck Company has never been found to be selling forgeries (intentionally or unintentionally) to date.

    Joel,

You are correct. These are separate children from the same family.

The UDA heading means these cards came from Upper Deck, which also authenticated these as stated on the back.

Therefore the UDA terminology in my posting means these cards are Upper Deck - Authenticated.

Re: UDA Autograph Cards - Questionable?

I understand your thinking, but it is wrong - UDA is a certified autograph division of the company that has nothing to do with UDC's trading card division.

How do I know this? I used to spend over a million a year with UDA and found they couldn't get me any favors with UDC.
