Jim Edmonds - Game Issued JSA eBay
Here is an example of why I can't stand the thought of "authenticating" one of my signed bats. This bat and the signature are awesome by themselves, but when JSA looked at it, the put the sticker in the ugliest of places. It totally ruins it for me - I emailed the seller and asked about the line under 125 - there is none - so it appears to be game issued Smith finish.

Looks like a nice bat...Can the hologram be removed without damaging the bat?

Re: Jim Edmonds - Game Issued JSA eBay
Probably. It just makes more sense to put the sticker on the knob.
I guess the major issue I have with authentication is the fact that it really takes the item out of mint condition. In the case of PSA, the sticker leaves a mess if busted - I have tried and ruined a cheaper baseball.
This is only one example. Putting anything other than an autograph or inscription from the player just ruins it for me. This piece just looks tacky with the big white sticker on a shiny black bat.
My two bits.

By the way - your bat is being shipped UPS today .
I am going to be at the Warmup Saturday if you want to meet up and chat.
