Ebayer Flipsyr At It Again...
i've mentioned this ebay crook on other threads but it now appears that he is braving new territory - he used to just offer hack job vintage suspension helmets but now he's moved onto other helmets as well. here's "an original authentic riddell wd-1 game used pittsburgh steelers linesman helmet" he now has listed - it's currently at $180.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=007
the following set of photos compare the round steelers decal on his lid (marked with an "x") with actual steelers decals - note the transparent trim.
here's "an original vintage 1960's suspension helmet of the green bay packers" he currently has listed - it's now sitting at $100+. this helmet is such an obvious hack job, and a poor one at that. what's especially annoying about this fake is that he's decided to try and pass it off with a youth facemask to boot. the rubber nose bumper is fake as are the rubber suspension gaskets - he's simply used weather stripping type rubber extrusion for these parts. he also makes his own suspension webbing and manually adds the helmet size to the webbing - but he's always sure to smear the ink in the hope that unsuspecting buyers will think that it's the smudge that's responsible for making the size look suspicious/off. as far as the helmet shell is concerned, it's probably a youth maxpro that used to have foam padding. what ever it is, it was never a suspension helmet before he went to work on it. hell, the jaw pads appear to be homemade as well.

Re: Ebayer Flipsyr At It Again...
I thought I saw a Steelers helmet on this forum recently with the clear border decal, but now I can't find where I saw it.
I hope the buyer sees your good post so they can A) inform themselves and B) inform the seller if there's an issue.

From the seller:
Dear bigtruck260,
Hi first let me say thank you for your interest. It is all original suspension. I did not in anyway put the suspension in the helmet, plus I do not have the machinary to do that.

Re: Ebayer Flipsyr At It Again...
the guy has always been a ball-faced liar so his response to you is not at all surprising - why don't you invite him to take a look at this thread, provide him with a link, and ask him to please explain why his "authentic" suspension helmets always seem to have:
- the inner crown band webbing cut on each side
- the helmet size manually written onto the webbing with magic marker
- the helmet size mysteriously smudged
- mysterious black felt tip pen marks where suspension stitching should be
- no suspension stitching in critical joints, glue instead
- odd jaw pads
- generic crown pads
- odd suspension webbing rubber gaskets, even for gladiator and other models
- odd rubber nose bumpers
- amateurish, hand-scrawled/engraved manufacturer's stamping on the back.
first, an authentic suspension helmet - notice the web stitching circled in red. now compare this to the other photos. is it just a coincidence that all of flpsyr's "authentic " suspension helmets are missing this stitching? a coincidence that they instead have mysterious black magic marker dots where this stitching should be; where they have been glued instead? or perhaps this is simply a special feature flpsyr looks for in an "authentic" suspension helmet when he goes to memorabilia shows to pick up lids for his "private" collection. good grief.
now here's a look at flpsyr's "handy" work - these are all different suspension helmets sold by flpsyr on ebay over the years. note the common hack job present in all of them, as mentioned above...
here's some of flpsyr's crack engraving work - i especially like the wilson hack job....

Re: Ebayer Flipsyr At It Again...
it's likely just a coincidence that flipsyr purchased a steelers decal set prior to selling this steelers helmet:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=160178986711
are these facemasks purchased by flipsyr the same as seen on his current steelers helmet?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=160184956471
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=160184957859
his ebay history is full of decal purchases, blank shells, and facemasks.
unfortunately he keeps his auctions private so it's difficult to match up his purchases with his sales.
rudy.

Re: Ebayer Flipsyr At It Again...
ha! well done kingjammy24! the first helmet you linked to is the one he has converted into the "game used steelers helmet". he's cleaned it up, removed the foam liner and buffed off the white riddell logo but you can see common marks if you zoom in on the photo. i'm going to post a link to this thread over at ebay's forum - we'll see how long it lasts given that ebay usually likes to zap these sort of things....
