Sheets 2000 Olympic Jersey

In my continuing attempt to add nice Brewer related items to the collection, I was happy to see there was a 2000 Olympic Jersey from Ben Sheets on ebay...... complete with Letter from one Lou Lampson. Seller has been unresponsive so far to my request as to what exactly that letter says, but I can't wait to see it. The language used in the description is dicey and doesn't really say the jersey was used in the Olympics, so maybe this was a practice jersey, or worn in pre-Olympic games.

Perhaps if there are any experts on Team USA jerseys out there, they could help identify where this jersey comes from. From the pictures I have found for Team USA in the 2000 Olympics, they did not wear a jersey that did not have a name on the back, lettering is not even close, collar style is not close. About all that seems close is that Sheets did wear 28.

This looks alot like the 1988 team U.S.A. jersey. Check American memorablilia past auctions. There is a team signed jersey that looks alot like the same style.

Thanks that would appear to be it. Anybody know who #28 was in 1988? I will assume Sheets was not on the team as a 10 year old.....

There is no #28 listed in the media guide for the 1988 team.

I only noticed the team signed 1988 jersey my last time through American Memorbilia, but look what I found in the January '08 auction, the same jersey.

Seller's reply to my request to see the LOA:

Matt... really sorry, but i dont have the LOA in-hand. i'm selling a group of these items for a friend who is trying to raise cash in a divorce settlement. also, the LOA does not mention Sheets because it was not researched enough. quick google check on olympic rosters reveals this was/is Sheets #28. hope that helps. i dont think any tags have been removed, but i will check later today and let you know. thanks for the interest and question. mike.

USA Baseball wore this style from 1987-1991, but this isn't from 1988. The '88 gamers had the "Baseball USA" logo embroidered on the left sleeve.
