chargers 1984 game jersey #56 on ebay....

i asked the seller about the patch because i find it odd... chargers worn alittle bigger AFL anniv patch on left shoulder, i also went thur gettyimages and found chargers players wearing bigger AFL patches ...
other question i want to ask you guys, is the tagging correct during 1984 season ? the jersey only has one sand knit tag, no made for chargers or year tags at all...HOWEVER the player Vince Osby did played for the chargers in 1984-1985 seasons.....

I was showing what the size of the patch looks like. Seems much larger in the photo I posted than the ebay listing you posted. Sorry, I should have been clearer.

Jersey looks good compared to pic in this thread but patch is MUCH smaller than the photo. Have to assume the patch was illegitimate and added later to a legit jersey to make it more interesting for display. No reason to display the back as the player was a no-namer.

I've not done sufficient research to know what all of the specific AFC teams wore for the season, however, being familiar with the Broncos jerseys of this year, I may be able to shed some light on the topic in general.

The Broncos' game jerseys for the '84 season, featured a 25th anniversary patch which measured 3" in diameter. Also publicly available was a larger 4-4.5" diameter patch that was of an identical design. These larger patches, however, were never used on the game jerseys.

From previous discussions regarding the Chargers jerseys, is sounds as if the opposite might be the case--two different sizes, with the larger of the two making their way onto the teams uniforms.

On a side note, I seem to recall the Raiders having affixed the patch to the left upper outseam of the pant leg and I believe that they may have been the only one of the 8 teams to have not worn the 25th anniv. patch on their jerseys. The Raiders bucking a trend, go figure
