I know what you mean. As I said before,ask yourself this question before buying,"Do I need it or is it something I just want." If you just want it,try to pass on it because at least twice a year an item you really need always comes around.
Get a change jar going. Put spare change and a couple of singles in a jar at the end of the day you'll have around $500 at the end of the year,more than enough to pay for one or two big items.
