Re: Cal Ripken Jr Batting Records
Hi Mike,
We've all seen quite a few Ripken F149 model bats being offered in the market.
What the story w/ the F149s?
Thanks
David

Re: Cal Ripken Jr Batting Records
Hi David--
Here is the deal on Ripken Model F149 bats:
Ripken did not order any F149 bats during the 1983-1985 labeling period. There may have been some that were made for him that do not show up on the records, but the records are clear -- no orders for F149 bats until 1986. In the 1986-1989 labeling period (specifically between 8/27/86 and 6/21/89) Ripken had 17 orders of F149 bats totaling approximately approximately 324 bats. All of the professional model F149 bats ordered were 35 inches in length and most were 33 ounces, with just two orders being 32 ounces. Most were Hickory Finish, with with about 20 % being a Flame Treated Finish and about 20% being the two tone light golden handle / hickory barrel Walker Finish.
Only one single F149 promo bat was made during this labeling period , so chances are high that a F149 bat from this period at least made it into the Oriole clubhouse.
There is no documented evidence that Ripken ordered any Model F149 bats after 6/21/89.
Good luck in future collecting.
Mike
