    Re: Derek Jeter

    Hello,

Derek Jeter never had signature model bats in 1998. 1999 block letters even exist, and it isn't until mid 1999 that he gets his first signature model. 1998 Jeter bats with a signature model raise a big flag. Look closely at the 125 in the Oval and check for an area where a line under the 125 may have been concealed. Otherwise, if there is a TPX/MLB logo on the reverse side of the barrel then it is not a 1998 but would be a legit Jeter gamer from the 2001-06 labeling period.

    Thanks!

    Hi

Thank you for your input. I recently purchased a Jeter bat that is 33.5 inches and about 31 or 32 oz (haven't had a chance to weight it yet) I checked for the line underneath the 125. (there is absoultely no signs of any doctoring the paint and finish has not been messed with. The bat does not have the major league logo or TPX on it. (it has small LS print on it) It is a signature bat P72. It has light pine tar up to the LS emblem and heavy ball transfers on it. What do I have? Could it possibly be a 1999 bat that the TPX and LOGO were omitted? I can send picks it

    Thanks

Feel free to post the closest pictures of the barrel and label as possible. Jeter's first signature model was made mid 1999. If you have a 98 with a signature, there is a slight problem.

    Hi

After talking with Jim Caravello i feel that i have a 1999 bat that was not stamped for some reason with the MLB logo. The "125" is not underlined nor has it been altered in any way. It is 33.5 inches long with heavy ball transfer. I have enclosed pics.
