Lenny Dykstra
i saw an interesting "where are they now" piece on lenny dykstra on HBO this morning. lenny's swimming in millions, living in gretzky's former $17mm home, and zipping around in a maybach. no card shows for lenny! anyway, he operates a chain of carwashes that have been called the "taj mahal" of car washes. marble counters, cherrywood cabinets, etc. the HBO segment showed one of them and inside was an absolutely massive display of baseball memorabilia. bats, jerseys, trophies, etc., from all over. not just dykstra or phillies memorabilia. lenny said he had a "mantle jersey in there somewhere". "All the Lenny Dykstra Car Wash sites have attractive 3,000-square- foot boutiques, stocked with sports art and memorabilia". if anyone was up that way, i thought they might be interested in seeing all of his stuff.

Re: Lenny Dykstra
Does he still have the car washes?
There's a story on him in the current New Yorker. I thought it said he got rid of the car washes.
All his time and effort seems to be going into his new magazine, The Players Club.

Re: Lenny Dykstra
i think he's still got at least the one in simi valley. the HBO segment seemed to have been done after the mitchell report because dykstra was asked about it and steroids. the amount of it all was pretty impressive. it wasn't some small display. there were bats and jerseys and all sorts of stuff everywhere. it was like a clubhouse exploded.
maybe warren humphrey can drive up and see if it's still there and report back. maybe take a few pics of the memorabilia. it'd be a nice escape from hollywood blvd, up there in the quiet wilds of simi valley. take topanga up, warren. open the windows, smell the fresh air.

Lenny is also a regular columnist on thestreet.com.
He's apparently made a bulk of this $$ on Wall street too.

MMMMMM...no real pictures of Nails in any of those articles. Don't let that cartoon picture fool you. I saw a recent pic of him somewhere and he has ballooned up bigger than Kirby Puckett did.
