The 1989 Home San Francisco giants jerseys have a strip tag beneath the Rawlings tag (with year and player number)

What was the tagging like on the road shirts?

Eric, As a general rule the road jerseys were tagged like the home versions however, Dick Dobbins cataloged about 14 variations on the 1987-89 jerseys, so without seeing exactly what you're looking at, a real definitive answer is difficult.
