    WOW! Rare baseball on Ebay

I wouldn't normally post an ongoing ebay auction, but since this seller has a reserve and I already know he sets his reserves high I thought I would share with the folks here.

Any guesses on what it goes for?

Great baseball! I prefer the Reach version (the Reach box has a more attractive color scheme), but this is a a great looking example in beautiful condition.

A significantly lesser condition ball just sold in Hunt's auction over the weekend for $600 without the box so I have to imagine this one is going to go for at least three to four times that amount. Figure between $1,500 and $2,500.

    I'll guess $1500.

Here's a ball that sits in the Yogi Berra Museum in Montclair NJ that has Ruth and Gehrig's signatures. Same box and "supposedly" the ball is original to the box, but I don't see the facimile ruth signature side in these photos.

I thought this ball looked familiar! This is the same ball and box that was recently sold in Steve Verkman's Clean Sweep Auction at the end of January for $726. The box looks like a perfect match, while the ball doesn't look quite as white and crisp in Steve's photo (which coupled with the fact that Steve's auctions are not well-known in terms of memorabilia probably explains the comparably low selling price). Looks like the buyer is going for a quick flip, and will probably get it!

And I just realized Steve mislabled the ball as a 1940's Sinclair Oil model, which is actually quite less valuable (and far less attractive) than this c. early 1930's Home Run Special baseball.
