    Question Advice on BIN/BO Auction

Hey, I have a BIN/BO auction up for sale, and I wanted some advice from more experienced buyers/sellers. So - I have the BIN at 499.95 and want at least $400 for it. Some guy offered $375 for the item. I countered with $425. Would it have been better to counteroffer with $400 even? Are buyers in general loathe to make counteroffers, after a seller has countered? My fear is that I will lose out on money as a result of being liberal with my counteroffers. Thanks for your help.

I don't think so. I think you are fine. If they truly want it they will counter offer. p.s. What is the auction?

I am selling a Hunter Pence bat, because I owe a GUU member for a Jeff Bagwell jersey. If I sell the bat, then I will almost have enough money to pay him back.

    Re: Advice on BIN/BO Auction

I like BO if I am a buyer, and am usually irritated as a seller.

MOST of the time, the offers I get on expensive items are lowball, almost insulting. I understand the idea of starting low to begin - but, if you make a $200 offer on an item listed at $1000...you are wasting time 90% of the time.

If someone makes an offer that is $100 less than what I need to cover the item, I politely decline.

Maybe I am strange, but I want to be the one to decline the offer. If I counter offer and the buyer rejects it, he is having all the fun.

Frik, I think that you should stand firm on your lowest figure. You have a $100 difference in BIN and BO- and that is fair in my eyes.
