    BMH: I need your help!!

    Brian,
I was wondering if you could tell me what Ted Simmons bat records were, the model, how many, and what years. Thanks for your help once again.
    Thanks,

Re: BMH: I need your help!!

    Hi Jaime--

Here is the info on Ted Simmons' H & B orders:

    1967 - 68: Models R128, M117, M110, M159 ----lengths 34 and 34.5 inches --- weights between 31 and 34 oz, most commly 32 oz.

    1969-72 : M159, M110, U1, R161, S281 (new model made to Simmons' specs) ---lengths 34, 34.5, and 35 inches --- weights between 31 and 35 oz

    1973-75: U1, C271, B267, K75 --- lengths 34.5 or 35 inches ---weights between 32 and 35 oz.

    1976: K75 / 34.5 in / 34 oz

    1977-79: K75 / 35 in / 34 oz

    1980-81: K75 / 35 in / 34 or 35 oz

    Orders post-3/28/81 in the computerized format include models K75, C243, K48, S216, B267 and C300 (18 orders in all between 2/16/82 thru 6/20/88.

Simmons was pretty much a Rawlings guy, but there were 173 bats shipped to him in Atlanta and another 70 while with the brewers, so he seemed to favor H & B toward the end of his career. His H & B bats went non-contract at some point. I have seen 1977-79 signature model (contract) bats, and 80s-era bats with block last name only .

If you are asking about a specific bat, between 1967 and 1975 especially, let us know the model, labeling period, length and weight and we may be able to narrow down the manufacture date a bit.

    Good Luck.

I want to say thanks for your help with my question. I was wondering if you can tell me how many K48 model bats did he order in 1985. What size, weight, how many.
      THANKS AGAIN,

Ted received just one order of bats from H&B in 1985. On 6/25, 11 bats were shipped to the Brewers -- K48, natural finish, 34.5", 32 oz.

He also received K48 bats in February 1986 via the Brewers (35", 32 oz., no finish, 12 bats; 34.5", 33 oz., no finish, 12 bats) and the Braves (34.5", 32 oz., Flame finish, 24 bats). He also received three orders of K48 in 1988 -- all natural finish, 47 bats total.

I figured that was the case. I was the under bidder!
