    Carl Yastrzemski K48 Model

Would you possibly be able to give me information on the lengths and weights of Louisville Slugger K48 model bats that Carl Yastrzemski used during the 1980-1983 labeling period. This information would be most appreciative. I just signed up for gameusedforum.com and look forward to the use of this valuable resource.

    Thanks,
    Greg

Jim, Mike. I hate to one-up this post, but if possible, anything you could post as far as Yaz's models would be appreciated. Especially his earlier models. Thanks.

    Re: Carl Yastrzemski K48 Model

Hi Greg - there are 5 orders of K48 model bats by Baseball Miscellaneous and not the Red Sox during the 80-83 labeling period. Baseball Miscellaneous usually refers to some promotional type of entity. I do not believe that Yaz used K48 model bats during that time frame. I would be highly skeptical of a K48 bat from this period and provenance would be key. I personally would stay away from K48 Yaz bats from this period. Could he have used this model? Maybe - but use characteristics and provenance would be key to accept one as a legitimate game used bat. If I can be of any further assistance, let me know. Jim

    Re: Carl Yastrzemski K48 Model

Hi Terry - Yaz's records are very, very long and go back to 1959. Is there a specific period you are looking at researching?

Prior to 1960 he used S2, K48 and B211 model bats. In 1961 he ordered B211, R45, S2, K48, W215 and R43 model bats. From July of 1961, until March of 1964, he exclusively ordered W215 model bats except for one order in 1963 which appears to be S2 model bats. Moving forward from 1964, W183, W215, K55 and W166 were the predominant models in 1964 and 1965. From April of 1965 to July of 1975, he only ordered W215 model bats. After 1975, to the end of his career, he ordered W215, P89, B267, D113, R206, C243, M110 and C271 model bats. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks, Jim

You are both very welcome....Yaz was probably, outside of Willie Mays, my favorite non-Yankee or Met from the 70s ( even though Willie spent the 72 and 73 seasons with the Mets ).....you can always ask questions about Yaz bats!! Jim Caravello

    Jim,

Do the (5) orders of the K48 Yaz bats by Baseball Miscellaneous specify the lengths of the bats they received? Thanks once again for your time. This GameUsedForum is great for the hobby.

Hi Greg - all but one order by Baseball Miscellaneous were 34.5" bats. There was one order of 35" bats. Thanks, Jim

    Re: Carl Yastrzemski K48 Model

Hello, I was reading through these old threads, and was wondering about some Yaz bats I have seen around with CY2, CY3, and CY4 stamped in the ends, does this indicate store models? The bats I have seen have the 125 (not underlined) and a powerized on the label, I believe they are in the 1973-1975 date range. Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks
