Having collected Ted Williams autographed memorabilia, It looks to be legit pre-stroke autograph. Are you sure about the M&N tagging date?

When considering the quality and authenticity of the Ted Williams "alleged" autograph shown above, consider these facts.

February 1994: Williams suffers a stroke that limits his vision, mobility, and *handwriting*.

July 13, 1999: Williams gets Fenway Park ovation when introduced to throw out first pitch at the All-Star Game. (Ted could barely walk or stand and was confined to a wheelchair.)

November 2000: Williams has a pacemaker inserted in his chest to regulate his heartbeat.

January 2001: Undergoes open-heart surgery. (This is the earliest year Ted could "allegedly" sign this jersey with his pre-stroke autograph from the 1980s to early 1990s era.)

July 5, 2002: Williams dies at age 83 of cardiac arrest at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, Fla.

April 28, 2007: Jimmy Spence (JSA) authenticates the Ted Williams autograph on the jersey shown above as genuine. Certification No. B37471

If Williams' signature at the 1999 All-Star game looked erratic it could be *because as he got older, Williams became more erratic in signing.*

I understand it is difficult to sign a jersey, so you shouldn't nit-pick at every little "problem" with a jersey signature. With that being said, the "T" in Ted seems to have a couple of problems.

Any item signed by Ted that late in life should have provenance of some sort. Sure, back in the 80s and 90s Williams was still signing autographs for fans on the street.... But in 2001-2002? Highly unlikely.

An uninformed individual paid 1257.00 for this jersey.

It would have been just as real with a Donald Frangipani or Christopher Morales Certificate of Authenticity.

What a shame.
