    Pujols 2006 World Series jersey

Just a general rule of thumb if you're ever considering a Pujols jersey. If the number on the front is placed too far to the right, the jersey wasn't worn by Albert or even made for his use. One of the most common flaws you see on Pujols jerseys in the collectibles market is placement of the number flush right with the "s" in Cardinals. No recent, legit single-digit Cardinals jersey will have the number placed flush right with the logo. In fact, if you go back to 2001, the single digit in some cases is centered under the "a" (see below) or even farther left.

In the second image below, from game 3 of the 2006 WS, note how the 5 aligns on the left with the left side of the "a" and how the right side of the 5 is aligned with the middle of the "s" -- a far cry from the offered example pictured above it.

Here's a shot of a 2007 spring training jersey with an even better view of how the number currently is aligned below the logo.

    As always, do your homework!

May I ask you then if you think the one currently being offered on ebay is centered too far. Thanks for sharing this knowledge. It looks way too far to the right just based on the pictures.Regards

The second and third photos compare the one on eBay with the one Albert actually wore in the series. You can go to Getty Images and look at shots from all three WS home games -- the placement of the 5 on front is consistent and not nearly as far to the right as the one on eBay.

Wow. What a lesson. Thanks for sharing. I guess the ebay one is not a one-looker like it may appear to be at first glance. Thanks again.

jeff, i'm not sure what you mean given that the below photos show that the number 5 does in fact line up perfectly flush with the s. i think the problem is that you chose to use yellow lines, which of course are rigid, to illustrate your point. but by employing flexible blue lines, as seen below, one can easily see that the 5 and s do line up perfectly.

seriously tho - what a fantastic tip jeff! having some time to kill i looked at dozens and dozens of pujols photos and, you are absolutely right, not one instance of the 5 flush with the s. just try to tell me that guu isn't the best resource on the planet for game used info!
